Hardware and software requirements

What are hardware requirements for VideoMost conferencing?

VideoMost video conferencing can run on practically any modern computer with Intel Pentium IV or better CPU. The more powerful CPU is, the better connection quality will be available.

Does VideoMost support Mac's?

Yes, VideoMost video conferencing supports Apple computers with Mac OS X OS 10.10.x – 10.13.x.

Which browsers are supported?

Should be installed at least one of the following browsers:

Windows:
  • Internet Explorer 11 (x32 or x64)
  • Firefox 38-51 (plugin), Firefox 52 ESR (x32), Firefox 52-57 (webrtc)
  • Google Chrome 50-63 (webrtc)
OS X:

What Internet bandwidth is required for video conferencing?

Broadband Internet connection is strongly recommended for better video conferencing quality. Available Internet bandwidth is the major limitation both for video quality and number of conference participants displayed at the same time. The minimum recommended bandwidth is 512 Kbps outgoing and 1 Mbps incoming.

What web cameras can be used for video conferencing?

VideoMost video conferencing system is compatible with all modern web cameras. For optimum video quality, it is recommended to use Logitech web cameras.

Joining conferences

Do I need registration to join a conference?

No registration is required to participate in VideoMost online video conferences - any person with an invitation from the conference owner can join.

How do I join a conference?

To join a video conference, simply follow the hyperlink included with the conference invitation, and type in a name under which you will join the conference.

You can also follow "Join conference" hyperlink on VideoMost website, and type in conference ID and password, as well as a name under which you will join the conference.

Do I have to type in my name every time I join a conference?

Check "Remember me on this computer" to save the name you typed in and reuse it automatically for further conferences.

How do I join a conference I created?

To join a conference you have created, you can follow a direct hyperlink or conference joining form as above, or join via "My profile": find your conference in a list on conference scheduling webpage or conference log, and click "Enter" button Enter.

If you are currently logged into VideoMost, you can join a conference created by another VideoMost user, and your name will be re-used automatically.

VideoMost registration

What are my benefits from registering?

While anyone can participate in VideoMost online video conferences, only registered VideoMost users can create new conference and invite other users to join them.

No registration is required to participate in VideoMost conferences

How do I register?

To register with VideoMost conferencing service, fill in the request form on "Registration" page. User registration is performed manually by the service administrator with minimal delay.

Scheduling conferences

How do I schedule a conference?

To schedule a conference, type in its topic and start time. Don't forget to invite people to your conference at your convenience - for example, via e-mail or by using the calendar event functionality.

Can i start my conference right now?

Yes, you simply type in the conference topic and click "Start conference now" button (you can leave the conference topic empty; in this case, the conference will be automatically named "Ad hoc conference"). A 30-minute conference will be created and started immediately. You still need to invite people to your conference.

How do I invite people to my conference?

You can send conference invitations via standard calendar functionality (MS Outlook) or by e-mail. Click the corresponding button on the invitation page and type in e-mail addresses for the people you want to invite. All other conference information (topic, start time, direct hyperlink for joining, conferencing website address, conference ID and password) will be filled in automatically.

Besides, you also can send the invitations by any other convenient method - for example, dictate conference ID and password over the phone, or send via any IM.

Can I change conference start time?

Yes you can, provided the conference has not started yet. Go to Conference log in your Profile, locate the conference in the list, and click "Edit" button Edit conference.

This will allow you to change start time and topic for the conference. Next, click "Notify participants" to send the updated invitations. You can also change the list of invited people at this stage.

Personal data

Can I change my name and password?

Yes you can change your personal data at any time. Go to Personal Data section of your Profile, type in the new data and click "Save".

How do I change my e-mail address?

Simply type in the new e-mail address in Personal Data section of your Profile.

Working with conferences

What is the logic behind video feed selection?

Number of conference participants' video feeds to be displayed depends on CPU power of your computer, available Internet bandwidth, and selected view mode (only the current speaker is displayed in "One speaker" mode).

Location of video feed windows depends on the selected mode. You can switch between the modes by using control panel buttons:

  • "Speaker stand (auto selection)" is the default mode. You can switch to this mode by clicking button. The most active speaker is displayed in the largest window.
  • "Speaker stand (click to select)" mode is enabled by button. In this mode, you can manually select the conference participant to be displayed in the largest window
  • "Table" mode is enabled by button. In this mode, all video feeds are of equal size
  • "One speaker" mode is enabled by button. In this mode, only the current speaker is displayed

What is compact mode?

Besides the standard and full-screeen modes, compact mode is available for VideoMost conferencing system. In this mode, only the main window and top control panel are displayed. You can switch to this mode by clicking button and resizing the browser window as you see fit.

How do I share my document?

While speaking, you can share your whole display or any document currently open on your computer.

To start sharing a document, go to "Document" tab and select any document currently open on your computer or "Show all" option. In the latter case, please make sure you have closed all confidential documents and applications before you start sharing.

How do I adjust scale of the shared document?

Go to "Settings" pane located to the bottom right of the conference window, and use "Document view modes" drop-down list to change scale for the shared documents and how they are displayed ("Fit to window" displays the shared documents in the main conference window, "Original size" displays the shared documents in a separate window, scaled to its actual size).

Audio and video

How do I disable my audio/video output temporarily?

To stop broadcasting your video feed into the conference, click button. The button will now look like . Click it again to continue broadcasting your video feed.

To mute your microphone and stop broadcasting your voice into the conference, click button. The button will now look like . Click it again to continue broadcasting your voice.

How do I mute my audio input temporarily?

To mute your voice input, click button. The button will now look like . Click it again to unmute the conference voice feeds.

I cannot see some conference participants

Number of conference participants' video feeds to be displayed depends on the selected display mode (only the current speaker is displayed in "One speaker" mode), CPU power of your computer, and available Internet bandwidth.

How do I improve video quality?

Conferencing video quality depends on CPU power of your computer, available Internet bandwidth, and web camera model. Improving any of these factors will result in better video quality during conferences.

Noone can see me

On the conference webpage, go to "Settings" pane and make sure a correct camera is selected in "Web camera" section. Select the correct camera if necessary.

Make sure your web camera is connected properly. Go to Device Manager, and locate your web camera in "Video devices" list. Access "Properties" for the camera and check "Device status". If the status is not "The device is functioning normally", reinstall drivers for your web camera.

I cannot hear anyone

If you have joined a conference already in progress and cannot hear any voices, the following causes are likely:

  • Incorrect audio device selected
  • Incorrect audio device output selected
  • Audio volume is muted or too low
  • Port used by VideoMost for data transfer may be blocked
